I've a week off work, so it's been a day of chores (a little cleaning and home decorating) then on to the more enjoyable stuff - stitching and reading, and later going to see a film. The stitching is the pink and stripes cushion cover which is coming on nicely.
I've also finished reading Jean Rhys's 'Voyage in the Dark'. I haven't read any of her books for quite a while, and I'd forgotten how astonishlingly good her books are. The writing is wonderful, and the subject - of a young girl alone and vulnerable, different, on the margins of respectability and inevitably on a downward slide - must've been pretty shocking at the time it was published. It makes me want to re-read 'Wide Sargasso Sea'.
I am loving the cushion cover so far - I can see the influence of Kaffe Fassett but I think your colours work better in a more up to date kind of way! I am a keen fan of Gustav Klimt and have tried to introduce some of his work into my work for my textile course. Enjoy your holiday - don't work too hard - enjoy the pleasures of life! Rachel x
